McLaren moved to end of Sakhir pits
McLaren has been moved to the final pit garage for next weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix.
The garages are traditionally allocated in order of the previous year's constructors' championship positions, and with McLaren having finished at the bottom of the 2007 table following its penalties for the spying affair, the regulations suggested it should take the 11th and last spot in the pit lane.
But with the garage areas often smaller towards the far end of the pits, McLaren was allowed to take the fifth position in Australia and Malaysia so all its infrastructure could be accomodated.
This will not be the case in Bahrain however, with the circuit organisers announcing that Formula One Management has decreed that McLaren must go down to the eleventh garage at Sakhir.
"We understand that it is in line with the rules and regulations of the sport for McLaren, which scored no points in the 2007 constructors' championship, to take the final set of garages," said Sakhir circuit boss Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa.
"However in Bahrain we do our utmost to ensure that fans of each team get to sit opposite their favourite team's pit garages to see the action unfold.
"Sadly on this occasion we must apologise to McLaren fans and accept that this is force majeure."
